The 1983 Baltimore Orioles dominated the American League Eastern Division with a 98-64 record and then knocked off the 99-win Chicago White Sox in four games of the best-of-five series in the ALCS and defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in five games to win the World Series title, the franchises first title since 1970 and the only World Series title in the Hall of Fame career of Cal Ripken, Jr.
